Is it free to attend the expos?
Yes. The expos are free for jobseekers and employers.
What is the structure of the expo?
The expos start with two presentations from community resource speakers and two morning workshops led by experts in their fields. In the afternoon, employers talk about their companies’ available job openings, and answer questions participants ask in the chat. For the schedule of events, visit the schedule page on the expo website.
Who may attend the expos?
Jobseekers aged 50 and older and age-friendly employers with at least three different job openings are welcome to attend the expo. Employers and jobseekers can register on the Virtual 50+ Employment Expos website
How do I register?
To register for the expo, visit the expos website. Select either the jobseeker or employer registration button and then complete the form. To ensure you receive updates about the expo, please add employmentexpos@accessjca.org to your contact list.
What if I experience technical difficulty during the expo?
Send a message in Zoom chat to the expo’s IT Host (Justin Watson).
Jobseekers
Do the expo employers hire people who are age 50 and older?
Yes, the employers who participate in the 50+ Employment Expo hire jobseekers aged 50 and older.
What time does the Virtual 50+Employment Expo start and end?
Each expo begins at 10:00 a.m. and concludes between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET; however, the duration may be extended to accommodate additional employers. Before each expo (9:55 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.), a moderator reviews the expo format and other frequently asked questions.
When do the morning workshops start and end?
The workshops start at 10:15 a.m. and end by 11:45 a.m. Each workshop is 45 minutes long.
Where can I find the expo schedule?
It is available on the schedule page on the expo website.
Are there any resources available for jobseekers who cannot attend the expo?
Yes. Community resources, participating employer information, and videos of the morning workshops are available on the expos website. Workshop recordings are available within ten business days after the expo.
Two business days after each expo, registered jobseekers receive an email with employer contact information and employment opportunities.
Are the employment expos recorded (video and audio)?
Many of the morning workshop presentations are recorded, and these recordings can be watched on the expos website.
We do not record employer or jobseeker participants.
What are community resource speakers?
Community resource speakers are representatives from local non-profit organizations that provide services to older adult jobseekers and workers.
What are the morning workshops about?
The workshops cover a variety of topics designed to help older adult jobseekers with their employment search. Topics include resume tips, current hiring trends, career changes, personal branding, working with recruiters, networking strategies, and interview tips.
Can I download the chat file?
Yes, you can download the chat text at any time during the employment expo.
Is closed captioning available?
Yes, closed captioning is available to all participants.

Can I request an ASL interpreter?
ASL interpreters must be scheduled well in advance of the expo you plan to participate in. After registering, please call 301-255-4209 or email us.
Employers
When does registration open?
Employer registration for the FY 2025-2026 expos opened in August. Employers may register for one or more expos at the same time.
When do employers present?
Employers present in the afternoon: employers have 10 minutes to talk about their companies and job openings and answer a few questions from the participants. One of the JCA moderators will ask the employers questions that jobseekers place in chat until their 10 minutes is up.
If an employer needs more than 10 minutes to present, please let Ann Happ ahapp@accessjca.org know, and we will provide you with the necessary time to make your presentation.
Are the employment expos recorded (video and audio)?
We do not record employer or jobseeker participants.
Does my business need to be headquartered in Montgomery County, MD, or Northern Virginia to be a participating employer?
If you have remote job openings, you can participate in either the Montgomery County (MoCo) or Northern Virginia (NOVA) employment expos. Age-friendly employers with at least three different job openings in Montgomery County can participate in the MoCo expos, and those with three openings in Northern Virginia can participate in the (NOVA) expos.
